Dr. Tom Whittaker’s interests lie within learning about the physical environment, its current and past states, and sharing that learning with others. The main focus of his academic interests is geology, specifically the fields of paleoclimatology and stable isotope geochemistry. He is also interested in the cycling of earth resources and ways that human society can engage in sustainable use of these assets. His passion for developing active, engaging, context-based, and informative learning experiences have been informed by his collaborations with colleagues at Unity College, the University of New Mexico, and Master Naturalist programs in Maine and New Mexico.
