HORT401
Description
In this course, students will explore how climate change is impacting the agricultural systems that feed the 8 billion people on the planet. They will learn how drought, flooding, extreme temperatures, higher levels of atmospheric CO2, range shifts of invasive species and pests, and other direct effects of climate change are impacting crop choice and productivity and consider the predicted effects of these stressors on agricultural practices and productivity given future climate scenarios. Studying cases from around the world, students will identify and analyze strategies for mitigating the impacts of climate change on agricultural systems.
