Description
Effective and professional communication is critical to the success of environmental professionals in any field. To be effective, students must learn how to deliver clear, engaging, and powerful messages that compel people to take action and initiate positive change. This course gives students the opportunity to develop professional communication and networking skills, and learn engaging storytelling techniques to better communicate complex data to a variety of audiences. They will consider the impacts of public opinion, mass media, and generative artificial intelligence (AI) on effective communication of science and policy. Additionally, students will examine how communication shapes shared systems of meaning, interpersonal and ecological relationships, decision-making and collaboration, and self-concept and perception.
