Instructor of Marine Biology
Mr. Brian Ahlers is an Adjunct Faculty Professor at Unity College. Mr. Ahlers received a M.S. in Marine Resource Management from Oregon State University, and a BS in Biology and Neuroscience from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. Brian has been involved in fisheries, marine conservation, and marine resource management for nine years focused primarily on research and evaluation of social, environmental, and sustainability outcomes associated with marine and terrestrial environments. In recent years, Mr. Ahlers serves as a Lead Assessor for third-party verification schemas and collaborates with other fishery experts to evaluate the performance of wild-capture fisheries operating in the United States, Mexico, Philippines, Japan, Russia, and other nation states throughout the Pacific and Atlantic oceanic basins. During his travels, Brian enjoys taking photos of unique marine biota while scuba diving, including the peacock mantis shrimp. Mr. Ahlers applies his interdisciplinary expertise in fisheries biology as well as fisheries and wildlife governance and management to foster a fun, positive learning environment for his students at Unity College.
