Ph. D. in Sociology
Dr. Cheryl ‘Abeo’ Jones is an adjunct professor of Environmental Sociology at Unity Environmental University. She received a Ph. D. in Sociology from Howard University in Washington, D. C., an MPH from Morehouse School of Medicine, and an MBA from Clark Atlanta University. She is an educator with a plethora of experience in research focused on social behavioral aspects of public health as well as in curriculum development and implementation. Dr. Jones has developed curricula and designed training modules for private institutions, including the United States university system, and for multinational corporations. Having developed and implemented curricula for all ages, Dr. Jones is an excellent teacher. In addition, she worked in the Caribbean Region for seven years as a Behavioral Scientist for the Caribbean Public Health Agency. In this role, Dr. Jones provided technical support to twenty-six countries. She provided technical support in the development and implementation of regional and national approaches to identify, enhance, and implement evidence-based public health interventions and innovative initiatives that seek to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS, NCDs (non-communicable diseases), natural disasters, and other public health emergencies throughout the Caribbean. Dr. Jones’ extracurricular activities include participating in endurance sports (triathlons) and sewing.
