Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology
Diana Townsend is a marine biologist and qualitative ecologist. She received her B.S. in Marine Biology from Maine Maritime Academy and earned her Ph.D. from Northeastern University in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology. Her research focuses on the intersection between mathematics and ecology and she has been published in the journal Theoretical Ecology. Specifically, she uses a combination of statistics and dynamical models to study the effects of dispersal and environmental heterogeneity on the synchrony of intertidal populations across scales.
