Ph.D. in Education
Dr. Jason Calhoun has been a public-school STEM educator for 23 years and has served as the Director (Principal) of The Governor’s School @ Innovation Park (GS@IP) since 2016. One of 19 Governor’s Schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia, it is a collaborative venture of the Manassas City (MCPS), Manassas Park City (MPCS), and Prince William County (PWCS) Public School Divisions in cooperation with George Mason University (GMU), a Tier-one research institution.
Dr. Calhoun received his Ph.D. in education from GMU studying the STEM pipeline for minorities and underrepresented populations. He has served as an adjunct professor in the College of Education and Human Development there since 2013 and is also a member of the adjunct faculty, at the College of Education, at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. In both universities, he has taught courses in science curriculum development and methodology for teaching science at the elementary and secondary levels.
Dr. Calhoun earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from Morehouse College and Cornell University, respectively.
