PhD in Fisheries
Dr. Kafayat Adetoun Fakoya has more than 20 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She holds a BSc. (Fisheries) and an MSc. (Fisheries Management) from the University of Ibadan and Lagos State University, respectively. In 2015, she received her PhD (Fisheries) from Lagos State University for her research on some biological aspects of the gorean snapper (Lutjanus goreensis) from Lagos coastal waters in Nigeria.
Despite her specialization in fisheries science, she has embraced interdisciplinary research to gain expertise in the social, economic, and governance dimensions of fisheries and aquaculture. Her research interests are diverse and cross-cutting, encompassing fisheries biology and assessments, aquatic resource management, small-scale fisheries and aquaculture, gender analysis, food and nutrition security, sustainable livelihoods, and the blue economy.
