Dr. Lori Kepford

Baccalaureate Adjunct Faculty

Lori Kepford

Credentials

Ph.D. in Sociology

Dr. Lori Kepford has been teaching exclusively online for more than 30 years.  She obtained her Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University where she majored in sociology.  Upon graduation, she began teaching face-to-face for 15 years before jumping into online instruction.   Both her thesis (The Familial Effects of Incarceration) and dissertation (Conception of Self in Prison Life) were written in correctional settings.   With her degrees in sociology, she has found that the prison setting is an interesting place to “do” sociology because it is a microcosm of the larger society. Everything found in the larger, “free” society is right there waiting to be studied.

With a primary interest in social psychology, Dr. Kepford has always been interested in the intersection between social and psychological patterns of behavior.  Fueling this passion is a quest to understand how much of our behavior is dictated by society and how much can be attributed to psychological processes.

Dr. Kepford is a champion of students and welcomes any and all questions.  She is available, approachable, and wants to help all students succeed!
