Dr. Marc Albrecht:
I started working with GIS in the 1990’s to complement my PhD in ecology. I have lived in Nebraska for over 20 years. During this time I have used GIS to create base maps for state parks, map locations of biological interest, make 3-D models, and more! I was an ESRI-certified instructor for ArcGIS way back in the 2000’s. I worked with a group that did habitat preference mapping for a federally endangered insect in Nebraska. GPS collars have also given me the opportunity to investigate how animals use and move through space. GIS has been a great tool to explore spatial use by animals and show habitat changes through time.
