Dr. Gupta obtained his Ph. D in Biological Sciences in 2009 from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani and the National Institute of Pathology, New Delhi, India and subsequently received a postdoctoral training in Molecular Immunology from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Dr. Rishein Gupta is a clinical immunologist by training and his research interests include investigation into the role of molecular factors and RNA species including microRNAs in host-pathogen interactions. He has more than 15 years’ experience in deciphering several aspects of Chlamydia trachomatis, the world’s leading cause of sexually transmitted infection and preventable blindness. Using animal models including mice and guinea pigs and clinical cohorts of Chlamydia infected patients with reproductive complications and infertility, his scholarly activities have resulted in more than 30 peer-reviewed, research articles, several being ‘first-time-reports’. Dr. Gupta is also actively involved in mentoring undergraduate, Master’s and Doctoral level students and teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses using innovative pedagogy and teaching methods.
