Doctorate in Public Health
Dr. Shockley holds a doctorate in Public Health with a Community Health focus and an MBA in Health Services administration. She holds 3 certifications in health IT: Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR), Certified Health Technology Specialist Clinician Practitioner Consultant (CHTS-CP), and Certified Professional in Health Information Management Systems (CPHIMS). Dr. Shockley is also a certified health education specialist (CHES) and has completed training for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention-DPP Lifestyle Coach certification. She is a social change and public health expert, researcher, author, and Keynote speaker who travels nationally and internationally presenting information on health and wellness. She is a contributor to the most recent CPHIMS exam and has worked with the HIMSS (Health Information Management Systems Society) organization to develop their first global health informatics certification course due to be available in April 2023. She is currently serving as a judge for the Institute for Healthcare Advancement’s (IHA) upcoming Health Literacy conference.
Dr. Shockley has presented at notable venues such as Columbia University in New York, and most recently she was invited to be the keynote speaker for the 13th annual Poverty and Social Protection conference to be held in Bangkok, Thailand in March 2023.
Dr. Shockley has worked as a professor for over 15 years and worked in healthcare for over a decade. She believes that there has never been a more exciting time to be in the Environmental Health field. Dr. Shockley has a passion for teaching and helping others to achieve their goals.
