Credentials

Ph.D. in Marine Science

I received my Ph.D. in Marine Science from the University of South Florida, where I researched toxic phytoplankton blooms in the Gulf of Mexico. Before entering academia, I worked as a pollution investigator in the U.S. Coast Guard and completed a master’s degree in environmental science from UMass Boston. I recently transitioned from academia to consulting, and am thrilled to continue teaching and sharing my passion for the ocean with students.

My foremost commitment as an educator is to facilitate the learning experience of my students. I focus on preparing students not only for their immediate coursework but also for their future careers, drawing from my own professional experience in regulatory and business environments. Inclusivity is central to my teaching philosophy, and I strive to create a respectful and diverse classroom. I hope to empower students with the critical thinking skills to navigate their academic studies and our rapidly changing world.

In my personal life, I can usually be found in the great outdoors. Despite being an oceanographer, I now live in the Arizona desert. In my downtime, I love to car camp, stargaze, hike with my dog, and create.
