Campus Organizations and Centers

Unity College offers a variety of ways to get involved and stay active in events and activities on campus. Our student clubs and organizations—which include Chess on Ice, Reptiles & Amphibians, and Wildlife Care & Education among over two dozen others—are a great way to meet new people and learn new skills.

Want to help shape the Unity College student experience? Join the Student Government Association, the representative body for Unity College students.

And for outdoor adventures and experiences, don’t miss our Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC). The OAC offers two challenge courses of activities that use ropes, cables, and logs; an equipment room with a supply of outdoor gear and equipment you can borrow; and a climbing wall over 30-feet tall with seven top ropes and numerous bouldering routes.

Unity College Athletics

Student Activities Department

As a Unity student you’ll never be at a loss for things to do—including Campus Traditions, PostCard Series trips to places all over Maine, to Movie Nights with concessions at the Unity College Center for the Arts, to Unity LIVE! performances from hypnotists, comedians, magicians, bands and more at the Student Center!

An example of these opportunities to decompress and connect with the Unity College community are:

Student Appreciation Week

While we appreciate students every day, these five days are extra: prizes, specially catered meals, decompressing and relaxing activities and events as well as some excellent Staff and Faculty participation help cultivate the College’s sincere gratitude for our student body.

Halloween Dance

Capping off our Campus Tradition “Halloween Week” we have an evening dance with catered holiday treats and beverages, a fully decorated Activities Building, a professional DJ with lights and sounds and the best 5 category costume contest in the nation, winning prizes like Go Pros, hundreds of dollars in local gift cards, outdoor adventure gear, and iPads.

Unity LIVE! Presents…

Nearly every other Friday evening, students join together to watch live performances from the nation’s best entertainment organizations in all segments of professions. Past performers have been comedians Ronnie Jordan and Lav Luv, hypnotist Matt Grisham, and performances by The Ghost of Paul Revere and The Mallet Brothers.

Movie Nights at the UCCA

Saturdays are for ALL to gather for a local, theater-style presentation of a movie at the Unity College Center for the Arts! Movies shown have been Deadpool, Moana, The Conjuring, Star Wars: Rogue One, and many more! Partnering with licensing agencies, we provide the opportunity for students to see movies recently removed from theaters before they’re released onto Blu-Ray and DVD in stores, all while munching on concessions!

Earth Week

A week of public events and activities to raise awareness about sustainability-related topics and efforts while focusing on providing environmentally-friendly entertainment to relax and enjoy a beautiful Maine spring season. Utilizing such things as Recycling Wars with the Sustainability Department, Do-It-Yourself Eco-Terrariums and Green Cleaners, as well as soil-safe tie-dying! Our excellent McKay Farms also provides even more locally grown ingredients for our Dining Services to utilize in meal options!

This is the final event of the year, prior to finals week, in the Spring Semester. Utilizing the amazing green space in the center of the campus, the Amphitheater has become the home of the largest Unity College event outside of Commencement. Staff and Faculty take the day to allow students to unwind and participate in things such as Zip-Lines, Dunk Tanks, Bubble Soccer, Sno-Cones, BBQs, giveaways and raffles and more!

We encourage students to suggest new events, help organize them, and—of course—participate in them! Contact Student Activities with questions and ideas or to find out how to become a part of the Campus Activities Board work-study squad, responsible for all planning and implementation of activities throughout the year! (HINT: the Work-Study Fair is the best chance!)
