Unity College Hosts Stem Cell Donor Drive to Benefit Maine Warden
The Maine Warden Service Relief Association will be teaming up with the Unity College Conservation Law Club in supporting a stem cell donor drive. The drive will take place on Friday, May 4, Noon to 4 p.m., at Tozier Gymnasium on the campus of Unity College, 90 Quaker Hill Road, Unity, Maine.
Sponsored by Be The Match Foundation , the Unity College Conservation Law Club, and Maine Warden Service Relief Association, the drive is seeking to find potential donors for Maine Warden Service Major Gregory Sanborn , who is facing a stem cell transplant in May.
Major Sanborn does not have a donor at this time and a world-wide search for a potential match is currently underway.
“This drive is in a location and time frame that could potentially save the life of Major Sanborn,” noted Tim Peabody, an Associate Professor at Unity College and former Colonel of the Maine Warden Service.
Peabody noted that Major Sanborn will be present at the event on Friday.
Details about donor requirements are available online.
There is no required cost for a person to be a stem cell donor, however, the Be the Match Foundation covers the $100 per person cost and only asks for any type of donation that is feasible for each donor.
For additional information contact Unity College at 948-9100.
Messages of support can be sent to Maj. Gregory Sanborn, Maine Warden Service, 41 State House Station, Augusta 04333-0041.
