Responding to a multi-year increase in demand, Unity College is offering top students an instant admissions decision this Saturday.

With its third Instant Admissions Day in three years, college officials said they hope to accommodate increased interest in America’s Environmental College by making the admissions process easier for students who make Unity their top choice.

“We are seeing more and more interest in an education grounded in sustainability science for those who want to be tomorrow’s environmental leaders,” said Unity College President Dr. Melik Peter Khoury. “For those students who know Unity College is right for them, I can’t stress enough how important it is to attend an event like Instant Admissions Day.”

Unity College Admission Director Joe Saltalamachia said the event offers qualified first-year and transfer students a unique chance to complete the application process, get accepted, pay a deposit, and fill out paperwork for Unity College’s signature Nova experience — all in one day, all at one site.

“In 2016, we will again provide an opportunity for highly qualified transfer and first-year applicants to complete the entire decision process in a single day,” Saltalamachia said. “It makes things easier and less stressful for applicants who often wait anxiously for months when applying through the traditional process at other institutions. These students can secure their place at Unity prior to the regular decision cycle.”

Propelled by $20 million in student-centered investments in academics, personnel, facilities, and technology over the past four years, applications for admission to Unity College have increased 123 percent between 2012 and 2015, with 543 total applications in 2012, 612 in 2013, 937 in 2014, 1,134 in 2015, 1,211 in 2016.

If accepted, students at Instant Admissions Day on Saturday will receive a printed letter of acceptance and packet containing other accepted student information. Accepted students will receive an “OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED” Unity College T-shirt, and eligible students will be offered merit scholarships.

At the event, students will have a chance to meet with faculty, administrators, and current students, as well as learn more about academic programs and campus life, with students and families enjoying a tour of campus, lunch and an Experience Your Major opportunity.

In the past, Instant Admissions Day applicants have come from across New England and beyond. Last year, 76 students were accepted at Instant Admissions Day. This year, 89 students from as far away as Indiana and Texas and 12 other states are signed up and may attend.

“Events like this at Unity have continued to draw record numbers, as students from across the country discover this hidden gem located here in northern New England,” Saltalamachia said.

The event — open to the public and the media — is Saturday, Sept. 17, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Instant admissions applicants must submit all materials online by midnight Wednesday, Sept. 14. Other requirements apply. Students can register and view requirements here.
