Unity, Maine – March, 2012 – Gaining acceptance to a nationally recognized environmental college to train for a “green” career is now more convenient for community college graduates.
Unity College, known as America’s Environmental College, has announced a new automatic acceptance policy for transfer students. Students having earned an Associate’s degree will automatically be accepted to Unity College provided they have attained four basic criteria.
The criteria is: 1. Having taken and received a C or better in a college level mathematics course 2 Having taken and received a C or better in a college level science course with a laboratory component. 3. Having taken and received a C or better in a college composition course. 4. Having achieved a 2.5 GPA or higher.
Students who meet these four requirements may submit a transcript and page one of the Unity College application (student’s personal information), to be accepted automatically.

The change in application procedure for transfer students at Unity College is in recognition of the growing popularity of community colleges.
“With more students choosing community college directly out of high school, then looking to transfer to a 4-year college, Unity is working to ease that transition and reducing admissions hurdles is step number one,” explained Alisa Johnson, Dean for Enrollment Management.
In 2011, Unity College was named to the top 30 of the Washington Monthly college rankings, and was one of eighteen U.S. colleges and universities named to The Princeton Review’s 2010 Green Rating Honor Roll.
