Sky Lodge: A Timeless Retreat with a Modern Mission

Experience natural beauty, rustic charm, and sustainable hospitality brought to you by America’s Environmental University™.

Your Getaway with Purpose

Sky Lodge is a historic 1929 wilderness lodge and 150-acre campus in Maine’s Moose River Valley, generously gifted to Unity Environmental University by the Couri Foundation in 2018. Nestled along the Old Canada Road National Scenic Byway, it’s a year-round destination for learning, adventure, and sustainable hospitality.

Guests can unwind in rustic log cabins, private guest rooms, or the original lodge itself—surrounded by the quiet beauty of the North Woods and connected to a mission that inspires environmental stewardship through experience.

Don’t forget the essentials when heading out! First stop is the Elaine and John Couri Welcome Center on the Sky Lodge property for snacks and your trail map.

Need a few more items? Head a few miles south to Jackman and visit Bishop’s Store, Trailside One Stop, or the Mountain Country Market for first aid kits, basic tools, compasses, binoculars, rain gear, sunscreen, bug repellent and more.

Adventure builds up an appetite. Take a break from your adventure and nourish at one of the many local dining establishments in region. Our team recommends Mama Bears for breakfast, Smokin’ Barrels for lunch, and, for dinner and drinks, try these popular spots:

New to motor sports? Need to rent or purchase equipment? Jackman Powersports is our preferred local vendor. They carry all the popular brands of equipment, parts, and gear and can provide service to your vehicle if the need should arise.

Since 1967, our local Border Riders Sportsman’s Club has worked diligently over the years to create and maintain great recreational trails, providing the most up-to-date maps and trail status.
