In this course, you will examine social change through a strategic management lens. In doing so, you will also learn about strategic management tools, such as a SWOT analysis and PESTEL analysis, and strategies for creating a competitive advantage.
The main themes of the course include environmental risks and sustainable solutions, with the purpose of improving the Triple Bottom Line (people-planet-profit) and making a positive contribution to society.
Students will learn about basic concepts in sociology and apply them to the study of the relationships between human societies and the larger, natural environment. This course introduces students to the discipline of sociology by providing perspectives on complex social processes that impact our natural environment.
Psychology for Organizational Sustainability is the study and application of psychological principles to support environmentally and socially responsible business practices. It focuses on how individual, group, and organizational behaviors influence long-term sustainability outcomes. This includes examining leadership styles, employee engagement, decision-making, change management, and workplace culture to create systems that prioritize both human well-being and environmental impact.
This field also explores how neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and behavioral science can inform leadership development, promote innovation, and build resilience in organizations navigating sustainability transitions. It bridges the gap between business goals and ethical practices by designing psychologically-informed strategies that support people and the planet.
