Master's of Professional Science in Animal Science and Behavior
Unity was appealing from the start due to its flexibility, environmental focus and cost.

Why did you choose Unity?

Unity was appealing from the start due to its flexibility, environmental focus and cost. As someone who continued to work full time while being a mother, this was the only option for me to obtain a higher degree.

What made your experience at Unity special?

I completed my Masters degree while working full-time for the University of California, continuing my volunteer work at a reptile sanctuary and giving my toddler the attention she requires. The flexibility of distance learning was a game changer for me. Although now that I’m done, I do sorta feel like a super hero.

Where has your career taken you?

Sacramento Zoo – Ambassador Animal and Avian Supervisor.

How has your Unity education benefited your career?

Technical animal training terms, research methods, nutritional details and networking skills are a few of the things I learned in my time with Unity. I enjoyed taking very targeted classes toward my degree.

What advice would you give to current students?

The animal field can be really hard. Seek help when compassion fatigue has you feeling down and prioritize a work-life balance. Professional development will also be your best friend in this ever-changing field.
