Employee Expectations
At Unity Environmental University, the term employee includes all faculty and staff. Regardless of role, every employee is expected to uphold the standards outlined in the Unity Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct. In addition, each Sustainable Education Business Unit (SEBU) or Enterprise area may maintain specific handbooks or operational expectations.
Unity is a dynamic, fast-paced institution—our policies and handbooks are updated regularly to reflect strategic changes. Employees are expected to stay current with all updates and apply them with professionalism and sound judgment.

Reporting & Accountability
- Employees report first to the supervisor identified in their job description.
- They are also accountable to the Head of their assigned SEBU or the Chief Officer of an Enterprise unit.
- All employees are ultimately accountable to the President.
Work Expectation
- Flexibility: Every role at Unity requires flexibility in scheduling. Our students’ needs don’t always fit into standard business hours, and employees must be available as needed to support learners during evenings, weekends, and high-demand periods.
- Adaptability: Priorities shift fast here. We expect employees to be comfortable working in ambiguity, staying focused on outcomes even as structures evolve.
- Technology & Systems Proficiency: Unity is a digital-first institution. Employees should be confident navigating learning systems, productivity tools, and institutional platforms.
- Professional Conduct: Every employee represents Unity. We expect clear communication, strong follow-through, and an ownership mindset across all levels of the organization.
First Day Details
- Laptop Distribution: A university-issued laptop will be provided on your first day of employment.
- Dress Code: We maintain a professional but practical dress standard. Specific guidelines may vary by SEBU or job function.
- RAVE Emergency Notifications: Safety is a shared responsibility. During your first 90 days, your manager will assist you in enrolling in RAVE, our emergency communication system for closures, weather alerts, and campus updates.
