Professional Development Opportunities at Unity

At Unity, growth isn’t just encouraged, it’s expected. Our team members take ownership of their development and are driven to keep learning, adapting, and delivering at a high level.

Whether you’re pursuing new skills, certifications, or long-term career goals, we provide access to the tools, resources, and opportunities that help you grow alongside the institution. When you invest in your growth, we invest in you.

Managers and leadership roles receive additional training to support high-performance team management. And for positions that require vehicle operation, completion of driving safety training is a condition of employment.

We believe in growing talent from within—and when possible, we promote internally before opening roles to external candidates. But at Unity, promotions are earned through demonstrated impact, not tenure alone.

It takes time to learn the Enterprise Model. Most employees spend 6–12 months in their roles before stepping into new opportunities, giving them the space to build expertise, deliver results, and grow with intention. When you succeed here, you’ll find the door is open—whether through upward moves, lateral shifts, or project-based leadership roles.

We grow when you grow. But growth at Unity is about readiness, not entitlement. If you’re the kind of person who leans in, learns fast, and delivers consistently, we’ll meet you with opportunities to take on more.

Yes, we promote from within as often as possible. When appropriate, we invite our employees to apply for open positions before we post them externally.

Our organizational structure allows for upward and lateral moves. As the University grows and our needs change, we evaluate current employees for new positions and offer them the opportunity to take on new roles, including supervisory roles.

Managers and leadership roles also receive additional management training. Any position that requires vehicle operation as part of their regular job requirements undergo driver safety training as well.

We set clear outcomes for every role and hold teams accountable to delivering results that matter. Success here requires initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to evolve alongside the institution.

Our Audience First approach means we make decisions based on the needs of our learners and clients, not internal preferences or legacy structures. That mindset extends to our people: if there’s a better way to work, lead, or serve, we expect our employees to help build it.

At Unity Environmental University, professional growth is directly tied to institutional performance. When employees sharpen their skills, deepen their expertise, and take on new challenges, the entire organization benefits, becoming more efficient, innovative, and resilient.

Our Enterprise Model supports growth with structure. While employees are expected to remain focused on the scope of their role, they may occasionally be engaged in strategic projects or task groups where their subject matter expertise adds value. These opportunities are carefully aligned with institutional priorities and are designed to accelerate problem-solving while building leadership capacity.

Professional growth at Unity isn’t always about doing more, sometimes it’s about doing the right things better. And when our people grow, so does our ability to deliver on mission at scale.
