At Unity Environmental University, we believe cost should not stand in the way of a meaningful career. As new federal loan limits take effect, many graduate programs are becoming harder to afford. Unity was built with this reality in mind. With tuition locked through 2030 and total program tuition below federal borrowing limits, students can complete their degree using federal aid alone.

Yes. Unity is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), a voluntary, peer-reviewed, nonprofit organization that ensures institutions meet rigorous standards of quality and effectiveness. NECHE also accredits prestigious universities such as Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
We offer 3 types of master’s degrees:
MS (Master of Science): A research-focused degree ideal for students who want to pursue a research-related career or a PhD.
MPS (Master of Professional Science): A professionally-focused degree designed for students looking to advance or pivot in their careers.
SMBA (Sustainable MBA): A specialized MBA emphasizing sustainability and social responsibility in business leadership.
We offer 5 terms throughout the year. Each term is 8 weeks long and courses are fully asynchronous (no set class times), with key deadlines on Wednesdays and Sundays each week.
You can take 1 or 2 courses per term, depending on your schedule and goals. Taking 2 courses (6 credits) lets you finish in as little as 1 year, while taking 1 course (3 credits) offers more flexibility and typically takes about 2 years. For each 3-credit course, expect to spend around 22.5 hours per week on coursework, readings, and assignments.
Along with your application, you’ll need to provide your college transcript showing a completed bachelor’s degree, the conferral date, and a minimum GPA of 2.25. If your GPA is below 2.25, you can still apply, but will need to complete a 500-level (or higher) course through our Learning Market and earn a grade of “B” or better before starting your master’s program.
MS and MPS programs require 30 credits, while SMBA programs require 36 credits. With five terms per year, you can take 3 or 6 credits per term, allowing you to adjust your schedule as needed.
