Work Experience = Credits!
Your work experience may count as credits toward your degree, saving you time and money.
Unity Environmental University Distance Education students may earn credit for relevant experience outside of coursework.
- Graduate students can receive up to 6 credits toward their degree.
- Baccalaureate students can receive up to 30 credits through CPL, with a maximum of 90 total credits when combined with transfer credits.
How To Qualify for CPL
- Professional licenses and credentials
- Portfolio submission documenting skills and knowledge
- Exams, trainings, or certifications
Next Steps
- Contact your Distance Education Advisor to express your intent.
- Submit required materials (see list above) along with a $500 non-refundable fee per course. Federal loans cannot be used for this fee.
- Your submission will be evaluated within 30 days, and you will receive a final decision.
Portfolio Requirements
If submitting a portfolio, include:
- Course Information – Learning outcomes of the course you’re challenging
- Summary Sheet – Matches learning outcomes to your experience and evidence
- Resume & Biographical Essay – Overview of relevant learning experiences
- Narrative – Explanation of how you achieved each learning outcome
- Documentary Evidence – Proof of knowledge and experience
