Your Mission Isn’t Over. It’s Evolving.
At Unity, we recognize the leadership, dedication, and resilience that come with military life. Whether you’re active duty, a veteran, or a military spouse, your experience brings incredible value to a university built around real-world impact.
We’re here to support your transition, help you advance your education, and prepare you for your next mission. Wherever you’re headed, we’re ready to help you take the next step with confidence.

How Military Support Works at Unity
Your New Student Navigator and Academic Advisor are trained to help you understand and set up your VA Education Benefits or Tuition Assistance, based on your branch of service. They’re your first point of contact for any questions.
Not sure who to reach out to? Log into your Unity Student Portal to find their name and contact information.
Our VA certifying officials, based in the Registrar’s Office, handle your enrollment certification each term to ensure your VA education benefits are processed accurately and on time.
Once your benefits are in place and certified, a benefits placeholder will be added to your billing statement, ensuring your balance is accurate while we wait for your branch or the VA to issue the funds.
If you’re using Chapter 30 (MGIB-AD), Chapter 35 (DEA), or Chapter 1606 (MGIB-SR) benefits, the funds will be sent directly to you, not to Unity. You’ll need to either set up a payment plan or apply for financial aid to cover your balance before the term begins.
How Unity Works for Active Duty Service Members
Fast Track Your Way to an Officer Position
While some may be promoted to officer without a degree, most positions require at least a bachelor’s degree to be considered for a commission.
Gain Skills for Civilian Life
Prepare for your transition to civilian life. A degree can help bridge the gap between your Military experience and civilian employers.
Put Your Degree on Pause
Taking terms off at Unity is easy. When you receive orders that will make it difficult to submit coursework, just let your advisor know your order dates and they can adjust your registrations. No forms, no hassle!
One Course at a Time
One course per term allows you to focus on one thing at a time, helping you balance a busy schedule with coursework.
Military & Veterans
Simplify your enrollment journey at Unity with these quick answers to common questions.
- At Unity, every advisor is a Military Advisor! We value our military population, and want to make it as easy as possible for you to get answers about your benefits and funding. Any New Student Navigator or Advisor you speak with can check on your certification status and provide instructions on securing your benefits.
- Chapter 30 (MGIB-AD), Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill), Chapter 35 (DEA), and Chapter 1606 (MGIB-SR): we will need a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE), along with the Social Security Number of the service member. We will provide you a unique, secure link to provide your Social Security Number!
- Chapter 31 (VR&E): you will need to provide your counselor with your Evaluated Degree Program, and official document provided by the Registrar’s office showing your total degree requirements. You can request a copy in your Unity Student Portal after registration.
- Active Duty Tuition Assistance: requires each term of classes to be approved by your base’s Education Officer. Once it’s approved, send your Tuition Voucher to your Advisor or to RegistrarsOffice@Unity.edu.
- Those using VA Education Benefits need to be enrolled in 4 credits or more per term to be considered full time. Unity Environmental University considers 3 credits to be full time, so you will need to work with your New Student Navigator or Advisor on the best registration plan for you.
- For Active Duty Tuition Assistance, because each course is approved individually, full time status will not impact your eligibility.
-
If you are enrolled in 3 credits, you will still be eligible for benefits! Your stipend will be prorated based on your credits for the term.
- Yes! Unity Environmental University accepts Joint Service Transcripts (JST) for credit. You can request to have your official transcripts sent to Unity through the JST website.
- If you have credits from time in the Air Force, we also accept CCAF transcripts. Electronic copies can be requested through Parchment.
