Nearly $1 Million Dollar UCCA Property Gifted to Ecology Learning Center by Unity Environmental University

Unity Environmental University in collaboration with the Unity Foundation proudly announces the donation of the Unity Center of the Arts (UCCA), valued at nearly $1,000,000, to the Ecology Learning Center, a landmark decision that reflects the University’s commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship.

The UCCA, known for its rich blend of cultural and educational programs, has long been a beacon of creativity and learning in central Maine. This donation marks a new chapter for the Center.

“Through this donation, we are not only transferring a physical space but also entrusting a legacy of cultural enrichment and connection,” said Dr. Melik Peter Khoury, President of Unity Environmental University. “We hope to see the Ecology Learning Center breathe new life into the UCCA and steward the property within the community for years to come.”

“The donation of the UCCA to ELC is a collaboration between Unity Foundation & Unity Environmental University spearheaded by our respective leadership,” said Unity Foundation President Larry Sterrs. “This collaboration celebrates the legacy of Bert & Coral Clifford and will benefit ELC, the town of Unity, and surrounding areas for years to come.”

This move ensures the Center’s ongoing role in enriching the area and enhancing student experiences.

“We are grateful and honored to welcome the UCCA into our family,” expressed Lēza Packard, Executive Director of the Ecology Learning Center. “This addition will significantly bolster our efforts to provide immersive learning opportunities for our students and the wider community.”

They encouraged community stakeholders to invest in and maintain local playing fields, education, arts and culture organizations and business infrastructure – all of which continue to enhance life in Unity.
