The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has three Natural Resources Police units that work with the public to ensure safety, investigate environmental crimes, and make sure that Delawareans and visitors to the state can enjoy Delaware’s natural resources. State Park Enforcement Officers patrol Delaware’s state parks. They enforce park rules and regulations and help visitors with accidents, injuries, lost children, and other problems. Seasonal opportunities are available every summer and are an ideal fit for students seeking careers in conservation or law enforcement. These paid summer positions begin at the start of May. Housing may be available for those not local.

Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) is the only group working both in the field and in the policy arenas to stop the harassment and slaughter of America’s last wild buffalo. Formalized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1997, we also protect the natural habitat of wild free-roaming bison and other native wildlife, and stand with First Nations to honor the sacredness of wild buffalo.

Our primary goal is to create permanent year-round protection for bison and the ecosystem they depend on—including respect for the migratory needs of this long-exploited and clearly endangered species.

The Houston Humane Society is dedicated to, and working towards, ending cruelty, abuse and the overpopulation of animals while providing the highest quality of life to those brought to us for care.

While the Houston Humane Society Wildlife Center is moving to a new facility, their internships are temporarily paused.

Austin Wildlife Rescue (AWR) is dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of orphaned, injured, and sick wild animals. As the only wildlife rehabilitation center with an intake facility in Austin, AWR serves as a vital resource for the community, providing specialized care to a wide range of wildlife species.

AWR maintains federal, state and local authorization, permits and licensure, ensuring our wildlife rehabilitation efforts meet the highest standards of expertise and compliance.

AWR regularly hires for seasonal full and part-time animal care technicians, generally from early spring through October.

Discover Eden courses are carefully designed to provide a meaningful introduction to a wide range of conservation arenas. These experiential courses better equip early career graduates or baccalaureate students in the ecological sciences as they plan their future career by exposing them to hands-on conservation with some of South Africa’s top conservationists.

Once you arrive in South Africa, the courses are all-inclusive, providing accommodation, food, and a full schedule of interactive experiences, meaning no hidden costs for your budget. Discover Eden will accompany you from airport pick-up to drop-off, offering guidance and support throughout your experience, making it as meaningful and rewarding as possible.

There are 3 tours: Ecology (3-weeks), Big 5 (3-weeks), and Marine Biology (2-weeks) during the summer months. Experiences have a maximum capacity of 8 students and costs between $3,000-$4,000 per course. This includes pick up and drop off from the identified airport and all lodging, food, and activities detailed in the itinerary.

Global Emissionairy is a mission-driven company helping to decarbonize the built environment. We support climate tech manufacturers and infrastructure partners by quantifying their environmental performance, developing carbon credit strategies, and enabling access to emerging carbon finance opportunities. Our work spans early-stage startups and public infrastructure, with a growing focus on low-carbon materials like bio-based insulation and recycled-content construction products.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Carbon Data & LCA Intern to support our technical team in the development of life cycle assessments (LCA) and related documentation for sustainable building material projects. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in applied carbon accounting, project documentation, and emerging sustainability standards. Prior exposure to life cycle assessment concepts is preferred. While this role won’t require independent LCA modeling, the intern will support LCA-related research, documentation, and data analysis as part of the broader project development process.

Learner Expectations

• Support the development of life cycle assessment (LCA) modelling for low-carbon materials and technologies
• Assist in technical writing and carbon project reports
• Conduct research and data collection related to building material inputs, emissions factors, and system boundaries
• Participate in internal discussions around project design, methodology development, and sustainability metrics in the construction sector
• Contribute to organizing and maintaining data related to environmental impacts and credit generation potential
• Assist with documentation required for voluntary carbon market programs or environmental declarations

Preferred Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in Sustainable Business, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
• Familiarity with carbon accounting principles and/or emissions reporting frameworks (such as GHG Protocol, GRI, SBTI, Scope 1–3 GHG categories)
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and attention to data accuracy
• Strong written communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration
• Demonstrated interest in climate tech, sustainable materials, or the built environment
• Willingness to learn new modeling techniques and participate in technical mentorship Helpful but Not Required
• Exposure to LCA concepts or tools (e.g., SimaPro, OpenLCA, OneClick LCA)
• Experience working with sustainability certifications, carbon credit programs, or ESG reporting

Wild Animal Initiative (WAI) is a fully remote nonprofit dedicated to accelerating science that helps wild animals. They are at the forefront of the emerging field of wild animal welfare science. Their team of researchers, communicators, and nonprofit professionals is dedicated to understanding and improving the lives of animals in the wild. WAI’s work spans multiple scientific disciplines, including ecology, animal behavior, conservation science, and welfare biology.

Wild Care’s Spring and Summer Internship Program is a physically active, hands-on, ever-busy internship which allows for direct animal contact and care.

Wild Care must raise funds each year for our Internship Program to offer a stipend of $100 per week and to provide $150 toward intern housing, if applicable. We strive to acquire six interns for our Spring and Summer season (April through August), each for a minimum stay of eight weeks. Their staff of Massachusetts-licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators supervise and direct interns.
