Ph.D. in Entomology
Dr. Barbara Amoah is a broadly trained scientist with 20+ years of experience in Entomology, Agriculture, Crop Protection, and Environmental Management. She earned her PhD in Entomology from Kansas State University, USA, and an MS in Sustainable Environmental Management from the University of Greenwich, England. Her interdisciplinary research centers on eco-friendly pest control to ensure adequate food supply and environmental and human safety. Over the course of her academic career, Dr Amoah has taught a variety of courses in Biology, Entomology, and Agriculture, including but not limited to Principles of Biology, Ecology and Evolution, Insects and People, Agricultural Entomology, Integrated Pest Management, Insect Ecology, Plant Physiology, and Biological Control, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She has also served on committees including mentoring and awards committees. Dr. Amoah has extensive experience in scientific writing and communication with a strong publication and presentation record. She serves as a peer Journal Reviewer for several scientific journals and also as a Grant Reviewer for the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research. As a Scientific Consultant, she helps small businesses secure funding to advance their innovations. She is active in professional organizations including the Entomological Society of America, the International Association of Black Entomologists, and the Ecological Society of America. In her spare time, Dr. Amoah enjoys gardening, sports, and spending time with family and friends.
