Ph.D. in Biology
Dr. Megan Hill is an ecologist and educator with 13 years of research and teaching experience. She has a Ph.D. in Biology from Syracuse University and a B.S. in Natural Resources from Cornell University. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University in conjunction with The Nature Conservancy. Dr. Hill has experience teaching a variety of student audiences in field, lecture, lab, and online settings. She specializes in teaching ecology, evolution, and conservation biology, but has experience teaching a wide range of topics including world geography and comparative anatomy.
Dr. Hill’s research interests lie in the realm of conservation solutions that have positive outcomes for people and nature. In this vein, she has worked extensively on conservation issues within coupled human-natural systems, with her research focused particularly on sustainable grazing and the management of grassland and rangeland ecosystems for soil carbon storage and climate change mitigation. Much of this research has taken place in East Africa.
Outside of science and teaching, Dr. Hill enjoys traveling, trying new vegetarian recipes, and spending time with her family. She is mom to one canine fur baby and three little humans. Her favorite animal is the African elephant (Loxodonta africana) and her favorite sports teams are the Syracuse Orange basketball team and the Buffalo Bills.
