New Degrees and a New Reality

September 22, 2020

Greetings!

Expanding our offerings to bring relevant and in-demand degrees to our students is a main focus at Unity College, and I am excited to share with you the latest news about the next step in this endeavor. You’ve already heard the exciting news about our record enrollment. Our recent growth has allowed us to change our online graduate tuition, which in turn increases our accessibility and affordability. Today, I have more good news to share.

Just last week we announced the addition of five new degrees for Distance Education! These include three undergraduate and two graduate degree programs. The undergraduate degrees include Animal Science, Environmental Health and Safety, and Environmental Health and Wellness. Our two new graduate majors include Marine Science and Animal Science and Behavior.

Students majoring in our animal science bachelor’s program can focus on Equine Science and Management, Companion Animal Care and Training, and Sustainable Livestock Management. Students enrolled in our master’s degree program in Animal Health and Behavior can select tracks in Equine Training, Behavior, and Health; Canine and Feline Training, Behavior, and Health; and Emotional Support and Service Animal Training. And, those pursuing a master’s in Marine Science can take tracks in Conservation of Marine Predators, Coral Reef Biodiversity and Conservation, and Conservation of Marine Mammals.

Our new calendar offers built-in flexibility with multiple start dates throughout the year, allowing us to quickly add in-demand degree programs as dictated by employer and student demand without having to wait for a new academic year to start. The Instructional Design team, who works with our content experts, ensures our courses are giving students the education and relevant experience they need to start a new career or make advancements in their current career.

As you know from your Unity College experience, a cornerstone of Unity College education is hands-on learning, which means even our Distance Education students receive the benefits of experiential learning. Our faculty and instructional designers build courses that get students out into their communities rather than having the expense and accessibility obstacles associated with having to travel to Maine for any sort of hands-on experience. We are also exploring and implementing the technological advances and benefits of extended reality, which can bring new experiences and locations to our students that aren’t easily accessible in the real world.

As you can see, we are experiencing tremendous growth at Unity College and plan to add more degrees and microcredentials over the next year. I hope you are as excited as we are about the possibilities of Unity College’s future. I encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or to request more information.
