Introduction to R

CIST103

Description

In this course, students learn the basic of programming in R, a powerful and commonly used object-oriented programming language for modeling, statistical analysis, and graphic presentation in the ecological sciences. The course covers the basics of using R for data input and import, data subsetting and transformation, data analysis using common statistical approaches, and data visualization. In addition, students will learn to access and use R packages and write their own R functions. Students will learn these aspects of R coding by working through ecological case studies both in practice problems to develop a basic understanding, and then through developing their own code by working through a similar example.
