Ali Shah is an adjunct faculty member In the Environmental Emergency Management and Law Enforcement Department of Unity College. Ali brings 20 years of public safety experience from various agencies at the federal, state and municipal levels. Ali earned his Master’s from Kent State University in Health Policy and Management and a B.A from the University of Houston in Philosophy (ethics) with a minor in biology. He holds certifications in emergency management, firefighting, para-medicine, hazardous materials response and technical rescue as well as multiple instructor credentials.
Ali’s research interests include public health preparedness specifically in the areas of disease prevention and mitigation and understanding how first responders can be utilized to help streamline processes within that framework. In addition to his work with Unity College, Ali also serves as the Emergency Manager for San Jacinto College where he has also been a faculty member for the last ten years. Ali is an avid outdoorsman and in his free time enjoys camping and hiking trips with family, friends and occasionally groups of students interested in learning about outdoor recreation.
