Dr. Amanda Vaughn is an Adjunct Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry at Unity Environmental University. She received her PhD from the University of Texas in Austin in Biochemistry, focusing on one-carbon metabolism during fetal development. Her work has been largely centered on the role of folic acid in neural tube defects, and the team of proteins that are involved in this pathway. Amanda has over 14 years of experience researching metabolic and developmental disorders and serving as a mentor to developing scientists. Beyond her roles in research, she has been active in the realm of scientific communications as a Medical Science Liaison for biotechnology companies that focus on rare diseases.
