Dr. Heather Rothrock
Baccalaureate Adjunct Faculty
Heather Rothrock
Credentials
Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, B.S in Biology
Dr. Heather Rothrock has been working in the field of sustainability and environmental consulting for the past decade. Prior to joining Unity College as an adjunct faculty member, she was a full-time faculty member within the University of South Florida’s Patel College of Global Sustainability, where she taught courses and led community engagement projects with a sustainability focus.
Dr. Rothrock is a systems ecologist, with a specialty in environmental accounting and ecosystem service evaluation. Ecosystem services are what nature provides to us, usually for free (Have you ever received a bill from a tree for the oxygen that you breathe?!). Through proper valuation of these services, more robust environmental management strategies and policies can be developed and implemented.
In her free time, Dr. Rothrock can be found enjoying various outdoor activities. While she primarily resides near the beach in St. Petersburg, FL, she returns to her rural hometown in Pennsylvania every summer to hike in the mountains and grow a large vegetable garden. She truly gets to enjoy the best of both ecosystems- mountains and beach!
Dr. Rothrock received a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida and a B.S in Biology from Eckerd College.
