Kaitlin Johnson

Kaitlin is an innovative and passionate teacher committed to fostering a student-centered classroom environment based on creativity, cultural awareness, and respect. She is devoted to inspiring students and ensuring diversity and equal opportunities for everyone while helping them achieve academic excellence.

Kaitlin has been working in the field of marine science for the last 16 years. Her diverse background includes working as a scientific diver for the Channel Islands National Parks Service surveying local kelp forests, serving as a lead biologist for the International Pacific Halibut Commission, monitoring the fishery stocks up in both Alaska and Canada, aiding in environmental outreach efforts for the Non-profit Barefoot Conservation in Raja Ampat-Indonesia, and serving as the Conservation Officer for the Port of Quepos in Costa Rica. However, what Kaitlin loves most is sharing her passion for the ocean and all of its inhabitants with her students. Kaitlin has previously taught a variety of biological science courses at Lake Tahoe Community College, Cuesta Community College, and California Polytechnic State University, and she now joins us here at Unity College!
