After Another Record-Breaking Year, Unity College to Give System-Wide Bonuses up to $2,500

College also Announces the Hiring of 100 More Employees in Coming Year
Unity College is announcing employee bonuses after another year of record-breaking enrollment. College leadership says it made the decision as a way of helping employees during a time of record-breaking inflation and higher costs.
All full-time, benefits-eligible employees who have been with Unity for more than a year will receive $2,500. Those with the College between 6-12 months will be getting $1,500, while all other eligible employees, including temporary employees, will receive $500.
America’s Environmental College also announced a three-day sustainability break in June to ensure all employees receive a mental health break and time off during Maine’s beautiful summer months.
“Our students receive a world-class environmental education, and it’s all thanks to our hardworking faculty and staff. It is important to let our employees know how much college leadership genuinely appreciates their hard work and commitment,” said Unity College President Dr. Melik Khoury.
Unity College made substantial changes in the spring of 2020, which have helped the College buck the national trend of shrinking enrollment and grow from approximately 800 to about 3,500 students in just a short timeframe. These changes have made Unity College more accessible and affordable, which has led to a 70% decrease in students needing to borrow alternative loans.
“Change is difficult, and this kind of exponential growth simply is not possible without an exceptional team. Our senior staff recognizes the hard work our employees have done to help Unity College grow into a multifaceted institution that supports a variety of locations and educational delivery methods. I was happy to sign off on these bonuses as another one of the many ways we support our employees,” said Dr. Khoury.
Many Unity College employees are also eligible to take advantage of the College’s flex-work benefit, which allows employees in certain departments to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Unity College is now on track to have over 5,000 students within the next year. In anticipation of this growth, the College will be hiring over 100 full-time positions throughout the state including New Gloucester, Unity, Thorndike and the Moose River region.
