DVM from the University of Illinois and PhD in Animal Physiology from Mississippi State University
Dr. Ruth Marcec-Greaves received a DVM from the University of Illinois and a PhD in Animal Physiology from Mississippi State University. Ruth has worked with zoos and aquariums for over a decade. Affectionately known as “Dr. Ruth, the amphibian sex expert,” many of her efforts have improved amphibian reproduction, husbandry, and wild population success. While Ruth’s background has focused on amphibians, she also has a wide array of experiences with birds, reptiles, fish, and mammals. She participates in a variety of conservation efforts around the globe in partnership with academic, government, and non-profit organizations. Ruth believes collaboration is key to success of conservation efforts, and she is a skilled international and multidisciplinary collaborator. She currently spends much of her time in Honduras working on an amphibian conservation project. Ruth focuses on individual student goals and aspires to help each student realize their goals through learning applied skills.
