Caren Garrity

Baccalaureate Adjunct Faculty

Caren Garrity

Credentials

Ph.D. in Earth and Space Science

Dr. Caren Garrity received her Ph.D. in Earth and Space Science from York University, Toronto, Canada. She completed seventeen research expeditions to the Arctic and four to the Antarctic. Dr. Garrity had her own company for eighteen years based in Ottawa, Canada. Her research was literally on ice, where she compared satellite maps of ice on the ocean, to what was observed. She collaborated with NASA, the European Space Agency, International Governments, and Universities in Germany, Norway, Sweden, Canada, and the United States. She presented her research in many countries, for example, Tallinn, Estonia, and Mombetsu, Japan. At one point in her life, her desire was to be an astronaut. She missed her interview to be a Canadian Astronaut since she was in the Antarctic, where her dedication to science flourished.

Dr. Garrity used the wonders of physics to explain the water content for the tiniest crystal of snow using space satellite data. Nearly anything is possible within the laws of physics. She is honored to guide you through the wonders of climate change using her own experiences during twenty-one years of research in the polar regions.
