She has taught courses in Geology, Physical Science, and Astronomy and loves helping students discover their potential. She comes from a diverse educational background and has an unquenchable hunger for learning. She has a passion for understanding the intricate connections between people, Earth’s systems, and the environment. Some of her favorite excursions include conducting river assessments on various Ozark streams, rockhounding in New Mexico, following the Howard Eaton trail in Yellowstone, visiting cliff dwelling sites in the Four Corners region, hiking in Utah’s beautiful National Parks, and visiting historic and geologic sites in the Ozarks.
Mrs. Witt spends her summers at Bluffdweller’s Cave in Noel, MO, guiding guests through the cavern, leading field trips, and studying the history of the cave. In her free time, you can find her collecting rocks, canoeing down a river, arranging piano music, gazing through a telescope, and spending time with her family!
Mrs. Witt studied Geology and Music at the University of Utah, then completed her B.S. degree in Geology at Missouri State University. She went on to earn a Master’s degree from MSU in Geospatial Science with an Environmental emphasis and spent several years researching the effects of lead mining waste in the Big River in Southeast Missouri.
