PhD in Curriculum and Instruction

Dr. Nichole Nageotte is an adjunct instructor at Unity Environmental University. She received her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on science education from Indiana University. Her MA in Zoology was earned through Miami University’s Global Field Program, and her BS in Wildlife Care and Education was earned from Unity College. She works full-time at Denver Zoo as a Community Research and Evaluation Manager, where she conducts social science research in cooperation with the field conservation team, conservation engagement team, and other teams throughout the zoo. She has a particular interest in conservation psychology with an emphasis in behavior change. In addition to being a researcher and educator, she has also worked as a zookeeper and as an environmental education instructor. Dr. Nageotte highly values sociocultural traditions of teaching which emphasizes the ways in which students construct meaning through dialogue, social norms, and cultural contexts. She likes to encourage students to critically evaluate their own beliefs and perspectives, and integrate them with the perspectives of others in order to build new understanding.
