Applications of Chemistry for Horticulture

Description
This course examines the use of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers in horticulture. Students will learn about the modes of action, toxicity, environmental impact, and human health risks of various pesticides and herbicides. Similarly, students will learn about fertilizer types and the conditions under which they are typically used. In addition, the course will cover how fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides can be applied to minimize risk of human exposure and environmental impact. The economic value of chemical pest and weed control and growth promotion will be discussed.
