Ed.D. in Education, M.B.A. and a B.B.A. in Business Administration

Dr. Moraima Colón, originally from Puerto Rico, has been a dedicated educator since 2017. Dr. Colón’s career spans roles as a Spanish teacher for elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as a special education teacher. Her teaching experience includes two years in Florida and five years in Maryland. Since 2021, she has also served as an online university professor. Before transitioning to education, she worked as a legal assistant in Puerto Rico for over thirty years, where she drafted documents for the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, the Court of Appeals, and the Court of Instance. This role, while challenging, offered substantial learning opportunities. She completed her doctoral thesis on the Self-Regulation of Learning for Academic Achievement at a Distance among Puerto Rican university students in 2018. Her research revealed that more than half of the participants emphasized the importance of understanding study material, taking breaks, reviewing, and maintaining motivation to achieve academic success. The study highlighted that participants generally mastered their doctoral studies through clear objectives, strategies, and planning.

She earned an Ed.D. in Education from Nova Southeastern University in Florida and holds an M.B.A. and a B.B.A. in Business Administration from Universidad Metropolitana in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is also certified in the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and the ACTFL Writing Proficiency Test (WPT). Her favorite place is “El Yunque”, a rainforest in eastern Puerto Rico, known for its waterfalls and diverse plant and animal species.
