Credentials
Master of Science
I received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts in environmental science with a focus in biology and a Master of Science from Antioch New England Graduate School in conservation biology. While a graduate student I began working as a consultant in the environmental field. Since then I have worked mostly in the private sector as a consultant, but have also worked in the public sector for the state government and various non-profits. I have held positions that include hydrogeologist, naturalist, public educator, environmental scientist, and wetland scientist. After obtaining my graduate degree and working in the field of wetland science for several years I obtained my certification as a wetland scientist. Then in 2005, I established a consulting firm that contracted work related to wetland issues. Educating others on environmental issues is a large component of what an environmental consultant does. Having really enjoyed this aspect of consulting, in 2006 I began teaching at the university level in addition to consulting.
My research interests focus on wetland habitat, in particular, the hydrology of the wetland basin, how it relates to the plant communities, and the sensitivity of these plant communities, especially rare plant communities, to changes in their hydrology triggered by development in the surrounding upland.
My personal interests include hiking in the mountains, backpacking through foreign countries while exploring their landscapes and cultures, maintaining a yoga and meditation practice, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
