MA in Fine Arts, BS in Environmental Science

Teresa Carey is an award-winning filmmaker, podcast producer, and science journalist with a passion for storytelling. She holds an MA in Fine Arts from Ohio University, a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan, and a Science Communication Graduate Certificate from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Teresa’s work spans a range of specializations, including film, podcasting, and journalism, with a particular focus on emerging technology, genetics, and climate reporting. Throughout her career, Teresa has produced biotech podcasts and a NatGeo grant-funded film. Her work has been featured on NPR, NASA, Discovery Channel, and PBS NewsHour. Teresa’s contributions have garnered recognition from the BLUE Ocean Film Festival, Covering Climate Now, and the Folio Awards. She leverages her strategic communications expertise to empower others in effectively communicating their messages. In the classroom, Teresa is dedicated to teaching media production, writing, and strategic communications. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys studying dance and circus acrobatics and delights in producing the podcast “Really I Did That” with her 4-year-old son.
