Academics at Unity Environmental University

A University-Wide Approach to Academics

Unity Environmental University serves learners through different programs, pathways, and learning environments, connected by a shared commitment to academic quality and learner success.

Across the University, academic work includes more than the programs we offer. It encompasses how academic expertise is organized, how programs and learning are designed and reviewed, the policies and standards that guide academic work, the pathways that help learners reach their educational goals, and the partnerships and resources that support innovation and continuous improvement.

The Unity Faculty Model

Unity organizes academic expertise differently. The Unity Faculty Model disaggregates work traditionally associated with faculty across seven specialized academic roles, bringing together expertise in teaching, advising, learning design, disciplinary knowledge, scholarship and research, program leadership, and independent program review.

The faculty model explains how these roles work together around learners, how compatible roles can intersect, and where responsibilities remain separate to preserve independence and academic quality.

Academic Quality and Continuous Improvement

Academic quality at Unity is supported through University-wide processes for evaluating and improving academic programs and learner outcomes. Program review, assessment, curriculum oversight, accreditation and regulatory alignment, and evidence of learner achievement all contribute to understanding how well programs are accomplishing their intended purposes.

These processes help identify opportunities for improvement and support the continued quality and relevance of Unity’s academic offerings.

Academic Policies and Standards

University-wide academic policies and standards provide a common framework for academic work across Unity Environmental University. They establish shared expectations for academic integrity, curriculum and instruction, learner progress, academic administration, and other matters that affect the quality and consistency of academic programs.

These policies support clear and consistent academic practices while allowing Unity’s different programs and learning environments to serve distinct learner populations.

Transfer, Articulation, and Degree Pathways

Unity works with community colleges and other educational partners to create transparent pathways that help learners understand how prior coursework can apply toward a Unity degree. Articulation agreements and intentionally mapped transfer pathways can reduce unnecessary duplication of coursework and make remaining degree requirements clearer.

Unity also shares the thinking behind this work through the Transfer Insights Series, exploring approaches to transfer mapping, transparent degree-completion pathways, and collaboration between institutions.

Academic Resources

These resources provide access to information, learning materials, academic requirements, important dates, and other tools that help members of the Unity community navigate academic life.
