Dr. Amy Bentz

Dr. Amy Bentz

Dr. Amy Bentz received her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Villanova University. She entered private practice for four years. In addition to working in private practice, she completed a Large Animal Neonatal/Perinatal Fellowship in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at New Bolton Center at the University of Pennsylvania and then completed a Residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine. Dr. Bentz is certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and performed an NRSA Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Her research includes preterm birth and its effect on the developing fetal brain.

Dr. Bentz has authored numerous scientific articles and received an award for the Most Outstanding Equine Abstract from the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. Dr. Bentz also has extensive teaching experience, educating undergraduate and graduate veterinary and veterinary technician students in classes such as Comparative Animal Physiology and Large Animal Clinical and Emergency Procedures. Her professional activities include treating and consulting on equine internal medicine cases, veterinary publishing and serving as equine chair for the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association’s Scientific Program Committee.
