Ph.D. in Animal Science from North Carolina State University and a BA from Otterbein University in Equine Science

Dr. Jennifer Gill is an Assistant Teaching Professor at University of Rhode Island and DE Adjunct Instructor for Unity College. She received her Ph.D. in Animal Science from North Carolina State University and a BA from Otterbein University in Equine Science. For 7 years, Dr. Gill provided equine nutritional consulting for horse owners remotely in TX. Dr. Gill’s passion for horses started at a young age when she owned her first horse. She spends her free time showing hunter/jumper and attending clinics. Dr. Gill has experience managing 30 horses for a teaching and research university program, so she appreciates putting her teaching into practice. She is also an experienced veterinary assistant for mixed animal practices and enjoys lecturing about disease and animal management. Her research interests involve the practical management of body weight in obese horses through the restriction of pasture and cooperation of the owner. Currently, Dr. Gill is looking at how seasonal changes in body weight affect saddle fit in horses. Dr. Gill enjoys encouraging students to strive for their personal best and embrace the process of learning.
