Master of International Management from ASU Thunderbird School of Global Management, BA in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder

Professor John Heather’s 35 years of tourism experience has taken him all over the world. After grad school, he and his new wife took a one-way honeymoon to Asia, with a quick stopover on Guam extending 14 years. As research manager of the Guam Visitors Bureau, then department chair for the University of Guam International Tourism Department, John worked throughout Micronesia assisting the US-affiliated island states develop and market sustainable tourism. His expertise in international development led to a broad range of tourism assignments for USAID and the UNWTO in Mongolia, Uzbekistan, China, Timor Leste, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Armenia, Iraq and Afghanistan. John recently completed 3 years teaching at the Hainan University Arizona State University International Tourism College in China, and he is now the lead cultural-heritage tourism consultant for the Lummi Native American Nation in Bellingham, WA. He earned a BA degree in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder and Master of International Management degree from the ASU Thunderbird School of Global Management.
