Metro Institute has a track record in providing computer-based testing services for various regulatory bodies, including the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF). The DACF-proctored testing sites, located throughout Maine, have been vital in certifying professionals in the responsible use of pesticides.

“This collaboration between Unity Environmental University and Metro Institute aligns perfectly with our mission to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to promote sustainable environmental practices,” said Unity President Melik Peter Khoury. “The responsible use of pesticides coincides with several of our degree tracts, including agroforestry and agriculture. By establishing this testing center, we are not only expanding access to an essential certification but also advancing the responsible stewardship of our natural resources.”

Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships, Wendi Richards, highlighted the significance of this partnership for both organizations, saying, “Unity Environmental University and Metro Institute share a commitment to educational excellence and environmental sustainability. Our partnership will enable us to provide a convenient, local testing center for those pursuing professional development credentials that will advance their careers in landscaping, agriculture, land management, horticulture and other areas mission-aligned areas.”

Starting October 9, 2023, the Unity Environmental University and Metro Institute Testing Center will be open to the public on Monday-Friday, with appointments offered each day starting at 1 pm.
